BOA Stadium![]() Game Attended: vs. Philadelphia Eagles 10/25/15
Stadium Capacity: 75,413 Date Opened: September 14, 1996 Miles Traveled: 928 miles roundtrip Bank Of America Stadium FeaturesBank of America Stadium is the home to the Carolina Panthers. The stadium located in Uptown Charlotte holds just over 75,000 fans. It was opened in 1996 and gave the Carolinas their first NFL team.
The surrounding the stadium are plenty of plazas and walkways. Each main entry way has a similar look with two large panther statues. Beyond the statues are the stadium facade. Two other statues that sit near the North entrance are Sam Mills and Mike McCormack. The new look Bank of America Stadium works in their team colors of black, blue and silver on the entry ways. The back of each scoreboard has the stadium name. On top of the entrances they have LED Glass domes that give the stadium a unique look at night. While navigating the concourse of Bank of America Stadium you will see plenty of fan amenities. The concourse is littered with televisions so you won't miss any action while you are away from your seat. The stadiums contains 95 total bathrooms for fans to avoid long lines. A new feature is the LED lighting that highlights the escalators. The lower level includes club seating and lower level seating from sections 101-140. The seating in the lower level are blue chairbacks with cup holders. The club level seats are the only sections in the stadium that have silver seats. The Silver club offers plenty of upscale fan amenities including climate controlled lounges, six bars and wider seats. Heading to the next level up that includes nothing but 153 luxury suites. Each suite includes seating for 12 to 44 people, tvs, sound system and personal bathroom. Members of these suites have access to four suite clubs. The four clubs are Suite 87 club, Gridiron club, The 32 and The Fifty One Club. The upper level has the most amount of seats, 37,138. The seats are the same as the lower level with the panther blue seats and cup holders. This level is where the stadium gets its most architectural flair with the stadium seating being at its highest down the sidelines and the lowering on the end zones. The 500 level features both scoreboards. If you are looking for one of the largest scoreboards in the NFL look no further than the end zones of Bank of America Stadium. The scoreboards measure out to 56' X 199' with Bank of America on top and the Panthers logos on the side. The stadium also features LED ribbon scoreboards throughout the stadium. |

Bank Of America Stadium Overview
Bank of America Stadium: This stadium may be over 20 years old but it doesn't present that feel. Lower and upper level concourses are a good size and the idea of having the flaps that hang from the concrete is better than nothing. This keeps the concourse from being bland and adds just enough color. The recent renovations to the scoreboards make a huge difference in bringing this stadium to modern times. I came away impressed with what they did with the escalators and adding the Panther blue to give them pop. This is an area of most stadium that is neglected. The exterior of stadium is sharp. All the entrances have a similar setup and the main entrance looks great with the massive scoreboard. The giant panther statues are a nice touch.
While the stadium's overall design is pretty bland they do a nice job on the secondary items that bring the stadium to life. The location of Bank of America Stadium is also a bonus point. The view of the skyscrapers from the stadium is always a positive.
Upgrades: The Panthers are doing plenty of renovations to the stadium which are apart of a five year plan. The first installment was the biggest financially and is the main part of the plan. It included new ribbon scoreboards, two massive scoreboards, renovated suites and new escalators. It looks like they will be taking a year by year approach to see what they will upgrade next. The concourses on the 500 and 100 level will be done but it looks like a wifi upgrade will be the next phase for Bank of America Stadium.
The Panthers are making all the right moves, if they can hit on the renovations of the concourse this stadium will take another step up.
Charlotte: One of the fastest growing cities in the country is Charlotte, NC. The city of just over 800,000 has plenty to offer from their great parks to neighborhoods their is plenty to explore. The city features several sports team including the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Knights. The city is home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Charlotte Motor Speedway as well.
If you are looking to explore the city of Charlotte start with an up and coming neighborhood NoDa. This district is known for art, beer and fish tacos. Southpark is the shopping destination in the city if you are in need to shop. They also have a nice park called Park Road Park. I spent a lot of time in the Plaza-Midwood district on my visit. This district is easy to walk and features some of the more trendy places to eat in the city. Whiskey Warehouse, The Pizza Peel, Dish and Soul. I ate on Soul on my trip and tried plenty of Tapas. Some of the best ones I had were Pan Con Tomate, Fried Meatballs and Shells & Cheese. The grilled cheese was fantastic as well. While you are downtown take a stop at the EpiCentre it is a top attraction with a great location and has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
Overall I came away impressed by the city of Charlotte. The city is one of the cleanest that I have seen to date, everything seems to be new. I wish that I could have spent more time around the city but that is what my next visit is for.
Scoreboard: The scoreboards are massive! The clarity is also a big plus. You can see everything you want to with ease from any part of the stadium. Great overall job by the Panthers with the 360 LED ribbon scoreboards as well. These are a must in today's NFL stadium and Bank of America Stadium nailed it.
Atmosphere: It had to be a great atmosphere with Sunday Night Football in the building! Panther fans have been selling out the stadium time after time. Really enjoyed "Keep Pounding" which is a phrase coined by former player and coach Sam Mills. Keep Pounding is performed by the Panthers drumline, Purrcussion.
