Big 12 Basketball Predictions 2013-14
|
#1 Oklahoma State: Marcus Smart could have been a top pick in last year's NBA draft, but luckily for Cowboy fans he's back. Smart averaged 15.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.2 apg, and 3 steals a game. How about that for a stat line. This team is much more then just Smart. Throw in Le'Bryan Nash and his 14 ppg. Sharpshooter Phil Forte set a record for threes in a season with 63. Markel Brown may be on of the best underrated players in the country. Forward Micheal Cobbins is the enforcer down low with his ability to block shoots. This team has all the making of a NCAA Tournament title contender.
#2 Kansas: Andrew Wiggins, the top recruit in the 2013 class choose Kansas and turned around Jayhawk fan expectations in a hurry. Considered the top draft in next years draft, Wiggins will impress you with his ability to get to the basket and finish. He has all the talent a coach could ask for, but how quickly he adjust to the college game will be key for the Jayhawks. Another freshmen that has been turning heads for the Jayhawk's Joel Embiid. The seven footer is raw, but will make an immediate impact. One key returnee will be Perry Ellis, if he improves his numbers, watch out. #3 Baylor: One of the best frontcourts in the country resides in Waco. Jefferson and Austin combined for 26.3 points and 16.3 rebounds. The depth behind them is deep. Rico Gathers is bound to have a larger impact this season and is a force on the glass. The backcourt will get a new look with Jackson and Walton gone. Brady Hesilp is back with his dangerous three point jumper. Gary Franklin has been a solid backup, he will be called upon to do more this season. Kenny Cherry will get a crack at replacing Pierre Jackson.
