Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: Florida State
Toughest Road Game: At Utah State
Biggest Conference Game: At Utah State

Quick Thoughts

Boise State lost their starting QB and every starter at skill positions. No worries, they will reload. Dual-threat QB Chase Cord is the front runner. True freshman Hank Bachmeier will push him in fall camp though. They will be passing to the top WR group in the MWC despite all of their losses. Khalil Shakir will be the teams top receiver. The line is also tops in the MWC. All five starters return.
The defense is without a doubt the best in the conference. The line is stacked with Chase Hatada and David Moa back.
Linebacker unit features one of the best OLB in the nation, Curtis Weaver. Weaver had 9.5 sacks last season. The secondary returns 4 of 5 starters who have a wealth of experience.
This team is destined for another big year. They could start it off with a bang as they head to Jacksonville to face FSU. In conference match-ups at Utah State and home vs Hawaii should be their tallest tasks.

Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: Boise State
Toughest Road Game: At LSU
Biggest Conference Game: Boise State

Quick thoughts

Jordan Love is back at QB. The problem is only two other starters return from last years, explosive team. For Love to succeed and put up massive numbers again, the line must come together. Love will have a steady RB in Gerold Bright to work with. His receiving corps is intriguing. While they don't have a ton of experience, they have talent.
The defense should pick up where it left off. They return seven starters plus good depth. The two stars are DE Tipa Galeai and LB David Woodward. The secondary is my weakest unit at 4th in the MWC. If that tells you anything, this is going to be a damn good D.
All eyes are on the game vs. Boise State, but this schedule has many more challenges. Games at LSU and Wake Forest in non-conference play. Drawing San Diego State and Fresno State from the West was a tough blow too. Even with this schedule, Utah State should still make plenty of noise in Gary Andersen's return to Logan.

Schedule

Biggest Game: Army
Toughest Road Game: At Boise State
Biggest Conference Game: Wyoming

Quick Thoughts

Donald Hammond III could be the next big thing at Air Force. He emerged on the scene last year, but this is the year he should have full control over the offense. He needs someone to emerge at running back though. Cole Fagan is the best of the bunch. With the line returning 4 of 5 starters this option offense should thrive in 2019.
The defense was stout against the run last season. That should continue this year with Moose Fifita back at DT. Linebacker is the biggest weakness. The secondary features top safety Jeremy Fejedelem, who leads the team in interceptions and tackles.
This team has a chance to disrupt the top 2 teams in the division. They need a big threat play-maker to emerge though. Games vs. Army and Fresno State will tell you how this will fair this season.

Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: Missouri
Toughest Road Game: At Boise State
Biggest Conference Game: Colorado State

Quick Thoughts

While Sean Chambers emerged as the teams next QB he had a limited sample size. Tyler Vander Wall will try to take back his job in fall camp. With a weak line and poor RB play, this could be a hard offense to watch this season. WR C.J. Johnson could be the play-maker they need for this offense to take off. He missed all of last season with an injury.
Last year the Cowboys defense only gave up 22 ppg. That will be hard to duplicate this season. They lose their do-everything safety duo who combined for 779 tackles in their career. However leading tackler Logan Wilson returns.
The Cowboys have a huge game to start the season with Missouri coming into Laramie. Not every day you get an SEC school to travel that far. The conference slate is brutal with trips to Utah State, Boise State, and San Diego State. Hard to see this team making a bowl this season.

Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: vs. Colorado
Toughest Road Game: At Utah State
Biggest Conference Game: At New Mexico

Quick Thoughts

If Collin Hill can stay healthy this team has a chance to prove me wrong. Though after being hurt on and off for several years, it's hard to know just how good he can be, when fully healthy. He is going to get hit too. The offensive line is one of the worst in the conference. The Rams bring back Warren Jackson, who had 4 scores last season. They add WR Nate Craig-Myers an Auburn transfer. The running game is wide open with several players vying for carries.
This defense should be better, but that's not saying much. The Rams defense was pitiful last year. If that is going to turn around, it will start with an improvement at linebacker where they lost all three starters. If they don't fill that void, it's back to giving up 36 ppg.
Hard to see this team flipping the switch. The schedule does them no favors as they only have one lock on the slate. At New Mexico, will be their best opportunity for two wins.

Quick Thoughts

The strength of the team is the offensive line where they bring back four of 5 starters. Where they are weak is QB and RB. In this offense, if both of those options are poor, it won't work. They brought in a new OC Joe Dailey, but he doesn't have much to work with this season.
Two starters return from a defense that was bottom of the barrel. The only area that has a ton of promise is the line. They bring back two starters and welcome in Trent Sellers from Ga Tech. Other than that its a hope and a prayer.
The Lobos do have winnable games on their schedule Sam Houston State, New Mexico State and San Jose State are all up for grabs. Build off that momentum and let's see what happens.

Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: Arizona
Toughest Road Game: At Washington
Biggest Conference Game: At Boise State

Quick Thoughts

Hawaii was one of the biggest surprises of the 2018 season. The offense flipped things around and scored just over 30 ppg last year. They bring back 8 starters from that team including QB Cole McDonald. McDonald threw for 36 scores last season. WR John Ursa is gone but JoJo Ward and Cedric Byrd are more than capable WRs. The running game was a downfall last season. It should improve with a stronger line in front of them.
The defense is where the biggest opportunities lie. Last season was poor. This season with 9 starters back they should make strides. All three of last years top tacklers return. the secondary and defensive lines are above average. DE Kaimana Padello needs to continue his dominance up front after having a big 2018 campaign.
The Rainbow Warriors open the season with two P5 opponents at home. At worst they should split those. The conference schedule is kind with only one top-tier opponent on the road. The game against Army, to end the season, could very well be for double-digit wins.

Schedule Analysis

Biggest Game: At Hawaii
Toughest Road Game: UCLA
Biggest Conference Game: Utah State

Quick Thoughts

The offense had no identity last season. This year they should have their foundation with RB Juwan Washington back and healthy. The problem lies at QB and WR. They need a stable QB to run this offense. Ryan Agnew has proven to be anything but that. However, he is still in the running to start this season. If he does his WR pool is nothing special. If the passing game posses no threat, this offense isn't going anywhere.
The defense year after year is strong. This season will be no different though they do have a glaring weakness at DL. If the line can just be average, linebacker and secondary talent should keep SDSU as a feared defense. The stars of those units are Tariq Thompson and Kyahva Tezino.
The conference schedule is manageable with Utah State, Colorado State, and Wyoming coming over from the West. If this offense can figure it out, a division title is in the works.

Toughest Road Game: At USC
Biggest Conference Game: At San Diego State

Quick Thoughts

I know that many have Fresno State as the favorite to win the division. I don't know how with the current situation at QB. The offensive line play concerns me too. They do bring back Ronnie Rivers and Jordan Mims at RB, but if they can't get the passing attack going, they could be less of a factor this season.
The defense was one of the best in the nation last season. They will need to be 14 ppg good again this season to even have a chance at the division title. They bring back their stat leader for both tackles and sacks, Mykal Walker. The secondary has playmakers with Safety Juju Hughes and CB Jaron Bryant. If those two can continue to dominate, this defense will still be strong.
If they can win their first 3 conference match-ups that would go a long way. UNLV, Colorado State and Air Force are all below Fresno State. In division play, they draw both San Diego State and Hawaii on the road.

Quick Thoughts

I'm likely overvaluing UNLV again, but I have hope! QB Armani Rogers is still my guy. Rogers season was cut short last year, but he is back and ready to take over. Rogers has a strong line in front of him this season. Pair that with suitable WR and RB play, this offense should go places.
The defense, however, has been stale. They didn't do much right last season. They bring back five starters. Most of those five starters were key contributors last season. Former LB Gabe McCoy moves to DE. This move will help the line pass rush. Javin White will have to be even better this season with the loss of McCoy to the line. The secondary is a big concern. Last season teams torched them. If they don't improve here this team could end up under .500.
The schedule is manageable. They draw Boise State, Hawaii and Fresno State at home. Week 2 vs Arkansas State, is a must-win for these team confidence.

Quick Thoughts

Folks, Malik Henry could be the starter vs Purdue. Honestly, I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Henry did show flashes at times at the JUCO level, but drama always surrounded him. The talent at WR is there for this offense to succeed. The running game should be strong as well. The biggest issue is the line which is unproven to this point. They have some new faces to try to patch things up though.
The defense might take a slight step back. Between the secondary and linebacker units, they return 2 of 8 starters. CB Daniel Brown is one of the two starters who return. He is a top-tier corner and will be paired with EJ Muhammed. The issues lie at safety where all three starters will be replaced with little to no experienced players.
A tough non-conference slate mixed with a brutal road conference schedule set the Pack up for a rough season.

Quick Thoughts

This offense is going to be stuck at the bottom of the conference again. The line isn't going to drastically improve. The same line that produced just 61.5 rushing yards per game. The sad thing is Tyler Nevens is a capable back, but not behind that line. QB Josh Love might be better than where I project him, but it's hard to tell.
The defense isn't much better than the offense. They rank last in DL and DB in my unit rankings. This defensive talent paired with an offense that can't move the ball is a recipe for disaster.
If you can find more than 2 wins on this schedule, please let me know.
